My Grandad Rick was a good man and a good grandfather and I love him a lot. He treasured his Catholic faith and I was blessed to have him as my confirmation sponsor. He was a joyful person with a marvelous sense of humor. I have so many wonderful memories of him. He will be so missed. I really wish Julia could have gotten to know her Great Grandad Rick on this side of eternity, but I am really glad that Aaron got to meet him on several occasions.
Julia did well on her first plane ride, and was so quiet and good the whole trip. She had a bit of a meltdown before take-off on our last flight on the way home, but she was completely exhausted by that point. A silver lining of the trip was that Julia had an opportunity to finally meet many relatives she hadn't met yet, including her Great Grandmom Anne.
I take comfort in God's word, and am ever grateful for the gift of faith!
"'Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me.  In my Father's house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be.'" - John 14:1-3
"But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we also await a savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He will change our lowly body to conform with his glorified body by the power that enables him also to bring all things into subjection to himself." - Philippians 3:20-21
"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth. The former heaven and the former earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I also saw the holy city, a new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, 'Behold, God's dwelling is with the human race. He will dwell with them and they will be his people and God himself will always be with them (as their God). He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there shall be no more death or mourning, wailing or pain, (for) the old order has passed away.'" -Revelation 21:1-4
