November 2013 Photos

In November, Aaron was on Teaching Service at the VA hospital about 45 minutes outside of town. I was on Allergy/Immunology. It was a breath of fresh air to me after 4 difficult months! Allergy/Immunology was really interesting and I loved finally working normal people hours (8 or 9 to 5). I did have cross coverage at the hospital 3 out of the 5 Saturdays out of the month, but even that couldn't get me down ;-)

November was a good month!

Mommy Julia with her babies.

The doctors and nurses were nice enough to give me free allergy skin testing while I was rotating with them that month! These photos were from partway through the test (and the test is only about 15 minutes long!). Needless to say, I'm highly allergic to quite a few things in the environment!

My other arm wasn't quite as bad.

My right arm, hours after the test.  My arms itched for days!

On the way to work one day, a truck made a left turn right in front of me. I hit the brakes as hard as I could, but still hit him. I screamed as it happened. Julia immediately said, "It's okay, Mommy!" Later, she said something like, "I didn't like that noise. Please don't break your car again, Mommy."

Julia carrying naked Ken around, all wrapped up in tickets from her circus birthday party. You can't make this stuff up.

One evening, we had a picnic in the living room while watching "Arietty." I'd made spaghetti squash casserole, and Julia was in love. She had a third (or maybe even a fourth) helping.

Elizabeth and Sarah took me out for my birthday! It was so fun! They took me to dinner first.

And I had this amazing duck crepe.

And then we went to see the orchestra play the music of Fantasia! It was incredible to see them keep perfect time with the videos projected onto a large screen. So fun! One of my favorite nights out of the whole year and a wonderful birthday present!

Please note the blue chalk around Julia's mouth.

We went out to celebrate the birthday of one of Aaron's residency friends. This friend has a friend who is really rich and really generous. He bought this super expensive champagne for all the ladies, drinks for the guys, and appetizers for everyone. He was quite taken with Julia and ordered mac and cheese and chicken fingers for her.  It came out in these huge portions - so we helped her out, of course. It was delicious!

My beautiful tousle headed lady with her chalk self portrait.

I love this. It really captures Julia's joy.

Super hero on the loose! This shirt was in the boys section, but it came with a removable cape. I  HAD to buy it. Julia LOVES this shirt, and continues to want to wear it even though it is out of season.

I sent Aaron the following text one Sunday morning: "Woke up to a lady with a naked bottom half. She had woken with a dry diaper and taken it off and peed a ton in her potty. Then, she had made this amazing tower with her stools. Cool kid, huh?"

I had a nice long lunch break, so I brought over a special lunch for my mom on her birthday! Meghan and Mary-Claire came, too. Here's the beautiful birthday girl with her granddaughters.

The birthday feast! Cold cuts with crackers, Pretzel chips with hummus, apples with dip, and Oreos for dessert (the mint ones, if memory serves me).

Aaron, Julia, and I went over to celebrate Thanksgiving with Stephen and the Augustinian friars! I love this photo.

One morning while I was in the shower, Julia had some fun with the salt and pepper shakers - i.e. she dumped them out in her cereal bowl. Gross.
