July 2014

July marked the start of year 2 of residency... woot, woot! I was on Nephrology which I loved. The attending was such an amazing teacher and I learned so much from her. She is also an awesome Catholic lady, and we really connected over faith and medicine. Aaron was on Nephrology, too, which he also enjoyed. We had super nerdy kidney conversations over dinner that month, sharing what we'd learned.

The most exciting part of July was getting to go on vacation to Disney World with Aaron's family. We had a blast. More posts on that to come! Other highlights included the fourth of July, swim lessons, summer reading club, and the wedding of a dear family friend.

We enjoy a nice fourth of July with my family. The pool makes summer gatherings so much fun.

We bought a treadmill from one of Aaron's attendings. She gave us a great deal - the "resident" special. We've used it... more often as a clothes hanger, but sometimes as a treadmill ;-) Julia got a big kick out of it when it was new to us.

Fun afternoon at the mall with mom and Gee.

Julia took swim lessons in July at a local high school. She was the only kid in her level, so she got one-on-one instruction form one of teens on the high school swim team. I was so proud of Julia! She went from being really scared to jump in the water, to being confident about jumping in and floating and swimming with some assistance.

Julia would look up to the bleachers to smile at me and wave often throughout her swim lessons. I just love this age, and how much and unabashedly they love the people in their life.

Fun times being swung on an after dinner walk/trip to the playground.

Our house got jacked in July. The foundation was settling, so we hired a crew to use hydraulic lifts to fix things. Our house literally got a facelift ;-)

Watching Dumbo with her friend, Valerie.

The mass kit I made for our godson. I made kits for Julia and Mary-Claire, too. I found instructions for how to make them this blog. I then spent time browsing ebay from some parts and crafting to make the other parts.

At the zoo for a wedding reception!

Hahaha

Blurry but still so cute.

The cousins were TEARING it up!

Aaron during the dollar dance with the beautiful bride.
Free smoothie day. This was on a random morning off... we must not have had hospital consults that morning.

We had sushi for lunch at the park before going down this 3 story slide. I scraped up my elbow really badly on the slide!

Goofball.

Our residency program had a retreat at the zoo. My group won the photo scavenger hunt. We're pretty hardcore like that ;-)

July was a great month!
