In July 2015, I was on Community Pediatrics which was one of my favorite months of residency. Every day, I was emailed several articles that I had to read and write about. It really opened my eyes to the world of public health and healthcare quality improvement. It was so great to have time to read and think about big ideas, processing them through my writing. It was also amazing to be master of my own time. Other than weekly academic afternoon and clinic, I could get my work done whenever I wanted, which was great. I often left a lot for night time after Julia went to bed, so I had more time to spend with her during the day. It was the perfect summer vacation rotation!
Aaron was on teaching service at the VA, which had decent hours for a hospital based rotation. Plus, he loved his rotations at the VA, since he really enjoyed the patient population, lower census, and staff at that hospital, so we were both really happy that month.
Julia had a good month too, spending lots of time outdoors. She also participated in the summer reading club (more on that to come!) and our family went on vacation to the Lake of the Ozarks with friends and family (more on that to come, too!).
