State Fair

In October, Aaron, Julia, and I went to the state fair.

Oh. my.

Can you believe we'd never been? I'm almost embarrassed to admit that we'd never been. It seems mildly unpatriotic ;-) In our old apartment, we lived really close to the fairgrounds, and we used to hear the concerts every night while the fair was running. It was actually quite annoying while we were trying to study during first and second year of med school... haha!

Anyhow, we had a blast, and I think this will become a yearly tradition.

Before we went, we just decided that we were going to spend some money on food and a ride or two. I'm so glad we decided not to be as frugal as we usually are, because, while there is some free stuff to do, trying lots of different kinds of overpriced food ended up being so fun and so worth it.

Fried Reese's cups. Yes. Just yes.

Enjoying some friend cheesecake.

Julia and her corndog.

Enjoying the decorated pumpkins. The expo hall reminded me of my 4H days of entering stuff into the county fair.

So excited for the petting zoo!

Julia and Wilbur

Bliss.

Julia and Bambi.

Julia and ???

Baa Ram Ewe.

You can sense Julia's apprehension.

Deer in the headlights and a goat.

Julia with a donkey.

Julia with the alpaca

Incubating chicks

Rabbits

We let Julia pick one ride to go on, and she picked this bee one. She really enjoyed it!

Red velvet funnel cake.

My silly girl.

We had a great night together!

Love these two.

All worn out on the way home from the fair.
