Disney 2014: Day 1

I have been so terrible about blogging, but I'm on an easier month of residency, so I'm going to try to catch up. These posts are going to be horribly outdated, but Julia looks so little and cute in these pictures, and I can't bring myself to skip them ;-) Taking a quick break from my required reading to walk down memory lane...

Last July, Aaron's parents took us on vacation to Disney World. We still talk about it often - how much fun we have and how we'd love to go back again someday. At three and a half, Julia was such a perfect age for experiencing Disney World. She was old enough to appreciate it and remember it, but young enough that the trip was still over-the-moon magical to her.

The first day, we flew to Orlando. We were planning to have a day in the parks, but were really delayed, so we just settled in, enjoying the beautiful hotel we were staying at onsite, including a character dinner that night with the Cinderella crew.

Lunch in the airport. Someone was in high spirits.

Jessica: “Raise your hand if you want to go to Disney World!”
Julia: “Raise your hand if you want a cracker!”

This face says it all. Julia got a "First Time" Disney button to wear during our trip.

Julia: “I have never been to Disney World before!”
Jessica: “You have been in this world for 3 and a half years! What have you been doing?”
Julia: “Playing dollhouse.”

Our beautiful room.

We enjoyed the firework show that night.

The pool at our hotel.

Sleeping beauty.

The next day, when Julia awoke at 8 am after a full night of sleep:
Julia: “How am I supposed to go to sleep tonight without something to snuggle?”
Aaron and I exchanged incredulous glances.
Aaron: “Do you want your Minnie Mouse doll?”
Julia: “Yes.”
Aaron, giving her Minnie: “Good night, sweetheart.”
Julia: “Good night, Daddy.”
A few minutes later…
Julia: “Daddy, is it morning?”
