It's well known that April showers bring May flowers and that Mayflowers bring pilgrims, but did you know that June weddings bring May showers? (Okay, okay... I'll try to keep the bad puns to a minimum.)
But seriously. For the second year in a row, I'm a bridesmaid in a June wedding, so I had the pleasure of helping to throw a shower for my dear friend, Kristin, a couple weekends ago.
The theme was Cinco de Mayo, which was perfect as 1) it was held on May 5 (go figure) 2) Kristin's favorite food is Mexican, and 3) Kristin is originally from Texas, where Cinco de Mayo is celebrated as passionately as Christmas or Thanksgiving (well, not really... but Texans definitely party harder that day than on Grandparents' Day or Arbor Day or maybe even St. Patrick's Day?).
I thought I'd share some photos of the fun event. Planning and throwing the party was one of my rare recent right brain activities, so I thought it'd be good to have proof that that side of my brain isn't completely atrophied.

| Close up. These babies were a LOT of work between the papier-mâché, fringing and gluing tissue paper, threading yarn for hanging, stuffing, patching the filling hole.... x13 piñatas. I had fun with it, though! |
