November Celebrations

In November, we celebrated Thanksgiving, and my mom's birthday! Aaron and I both got the day off for Thanksgiving, which was great! My aunt, uncle, and cousins had come from Florida to visit, and I sadly saw that I didn't pull my camera out until later in the evening when they'd gone out to see Christmas lights or were already in bed (not sure which). Sometimes it's hard to live in the moment and capture the moments, you know? Like sometimes, when I take a photos of something important, I'm happy I got an image to enjoy forever, but sometimes, a small part of me mourns that I saw the moment through the screen of my camera. So, anyhow, unfortunately, I didn't get many photos of this holiday, or our guests, or even the spread (and I'm the queen of food photos), but it was a good day! That I didn't see through a camera lens :-)

In some of the few photos I have, you can see the movie Elf on the TV. We have a family tradition of watching it on Thanksgiving while cutting snowflakes, which we all enjoy, except Erik, who thinks Elf is overrated. Blasphemy.

Some of us were busy on my mom's actual birthday, so we got together to celebrate late in November. My mom said she didn't want a cake, but we couldn't have nothing for dessert, so I made toffee and peanut clusters... and made a special one for my mom (see below). We all enjoyed getting to celebrate my mom and the important role she plays in our lives. My mom rocks!

This little turkey has really grown since last Thanksgiving, hasn't she?

Burgers for my mom's birthday!

Awkward family photo?

The giant peanut cluster with toffee I made for my mom :-)

Which she generously shared with Julia.

Who loved it.
A lot. Nice mustache, eh?
